Tomy Trains (originally known as Tomytrain) is a range of battery-operated trains made by Tomy that were released in countries outside Asia. In 1992, Thomas and Friends trains were introduced. All of the trains had magnetic couplings and ran on dark blue track. The packaging was originally dark blue and the models could be seen through the packaging, but were later changed in a red color (yellow for Thomas trains) with an updated logo. In 1998, the range was discontinued and replaced with the Tomica World line, based upon the Plarail system already in use in Japan.

The engines can move forwards and backwards, and come with a driver figure to put in the cab.
